May 26th. Young Life Scientists' Symposium: The next generation of asthma and allergy research, London Southbank University. Unplugging the airways: Does proteolysis accompany mucin unpackaging?

Ceri Harrop

At the same symposium, Ceri presented a poster on: Cross-talk between human lung fibroblasts and bronchial epithelial cells regulates mucin production.

Mark Morgan

May 21^st – 26^th. EMBO Cellular Signaling and Molecular Medicine meeting, Cavtat, Croatia. Syndecan-4 phosphorylation: a molecular switch driving integrin recycling to control focal adhesion dynamics.

Hellyeh Hamidi

At the same conference Hellyeh presented a poster on: Regulation of syndecan-4 function by differential phosphorylation.

Congratulations to...

Sumaira Hasnain

Was awarded travel grants from Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds Travel Grant (£4000) and the Royal Society of Chemistry Travel Grant (£500) to attend the Biology of Parasitism Course at Wood's Hole, USA.

Claudia Wellbrock

Has been awarded one year funding ($98,000) for a postdoc by the Harry J Llloyd Trust, which will hopefully allow Claudia to produce preliminary data on live imaging in zebrafish for future grant applications.
