Public engagement

This July the Centre will host its flagship public engagement event, in conjunction with the Manchester Museum, Wellcome to the Matrix. This year the event will run on 10, 12 and 13 July and we are in need of volunteers to help make this possible.

PIs: We need judges for all three days so if you can spare an hour 1-2pm on the above dates, please let me know ASAP.

PhD students and postdocs: we need people to act as team leaders for the students each day. There are 5 teams per day and the time commitment is approx. 9am-2pm. Lunch is provided.

Tim Hardingham was invited by University of Liverpool as an external expert for their holistic review of the Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease 20-21 May 2012

On 16 June some members of the FLS PG committee including Holly Birchenough, Heather Davies, Chloe Lallyett and Lorna Wilkinson will be attempting the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in under 24 hours! The group are doing this for the Wood Street Mission a charity that helps disadvantaged families in the Manchester area by providing them with clothing, books and toys among other things to greatly improve their quality of life. If you would like to sponsor the FLS PG 3-peakers please follow this link to the justgiving page below. The ECM post-grad post-doc meeting was held on 18 May. Following an afternoon of science discussion in AV Hill, the group retired to the sofa area for pizza and drinks.
