During National Science & Engineering week in 2008, a team of our researchers, ranging from students to lab heads, held an interactive stall at the Arndale Market in Manchester.

The team

Members of the public added a link in our model of a protein chain in one of our interactive exhibits.

The imaginations and interest of the public were captured by images depicting common disorders including arthritis.

Researchers were on hand to answer any questions the public had about the matrix.


Making slime from PVA glue was a hit with younger members of the public, and provided an opening for further discussion.

Interactive models were used to explain how matrix is important in our normal health.
